Book(s) of the Month - October

A family affair! Our first recommendations come from sisters Arielle and Katia.

Girls, Goddesses and Giants by Lari Don
I found it really enjoyable. It has lots of different myths and legends from all over the world. It's really nice to read stories from every corner of the earth. All the stories are also about girls and how they get out of trouble, so it's nice to have the girls save the day instead of boys!

The Twits by Roald Dahl
I think you should read it because it's a very funny and crazy story and you will never imagine what happens in it. It is quite disgusting at parts but so hilarious!

Work in Progress

Andy Kerr, the librarian for Trinity High has kindly helped us set-up a system on the computer to categorise our books. This will allow us to lend books from our library and enjoy reading them at home. Our library is closed for the time being and we are helping Mrs Church with this big job. We'll keep you posted when our library re-opens.

Book of the Month

Each month we are asking pupils from 2 bases to nominate a book they would like to recommend. We will leave a folder with forms and a box for completed forms in both bases.

We will choose one nomination from each base and this will be featured here and in our library each month.

Why not try reading a book from a less well known author and if you enjoy it, recommend it when it's your turn. Here's when the box will be visiting your base.

This year the theme is 'Light' marking the UN International Year of Light 2015. Look out for the poetry cards in the library or visit the Scottish Poetry Library website to enjoy reading some poetry.

Your Committee Needs You! 5 October'15

We gave a presentation today at the assemblies asking for your help to keep our library looking good.
Remember...
Non-fiction books (about real facts) are to the left and are organised into levels upper, middle and lower.
Fiction books (novels/stories) are to the right and are organised into levels upper, middle and lower. They are also organised alphabetically by author's surname (upper and middle only).

Your weekly library visits

Here's the library timetable for your weekly class visit

Always a good idea to make sure you bring your personal reading book with you that day. You might be given time to enjoy reading a bit more of it.

Grand Opening 5 March 2015 World Book Day

The day began with a rousing start. Storyteller Renita Boyle had us all join in with her in re-telling the story of the 3 Litttle Pigs with sound effects. Great fun! She then declared our library open!

Throughout the day we enjoyed Renita and another storyteller Daniel Allison's wonderful storytelling. Some of us got to meet Tim Archibald, an illustrator, who gave us an insight into his work.

Our day ended with Renita leading us in song. We raised the roof singing 'I know an old lady who swallowed a fly!' What a great day!

The Creation Of Our Library

February 2015
We had our first meeting and brainstormed ideas for our new library. Our first task was to categorise and organise all the books. It was a huge job, but our great teamwork resulted in our library being ready for it's grand opening on 5 March, World Book Day.

A huge thank you goes to Mia and Alex who were part our committee before they moved on to high school.
